1.LIBRARY COLLECTIONS


  • Books : 30,345 volumes (Textbooks and reference books)
  • Journals/ Magazine : 58 numbers of printed current Journals/magazines subscribed during the year 2020-2021 mostly are listed under UGC Care List.
  • E-Resources : Institutional Member under N-List Programme a college Component of e-ShodhSindhu Consortium. Free access to 6000+ journals and 31,35,000+ ebooks.
  • Newspapers : 7 (Both Regional and National).
  • Special Collections : (1)Books on Koch- Rajbongshis of Assam, (2)Sahitya Akademi Awarded Books both in Assamese and English Language, (3)Career Information Literatures.

2.LIBRARY FACILITIES


  • Automated Library : The Central Library is automated using SOUL 2.0 (Integrated Library Management Software-ILMS) developed by the INFLIBNET.
  • Digital Repository/ Institutional Repository : The Digital Library of the Abhayapuri College uses DSPACE Software to access Digital Resources. Basically the college publications and old Question papers of Gauhati University of Undergraduate level are made available through this platform.
  • Internet Facility : 12 terminals are available for the users to browse the internet in library with Broadband connectivity.
  • Book Bank : Poor and under privileged students are provided book from the book bank.
  • Barcode Technology : Library uses Barcode technology to identify Books, Circulation of Books and to identify student’s Identity Cards.
  • Electronic surveillance system (CCTV) : There is surveillance System to monitor the pilferage of books or unauthorized issue of books or any kind of theft in the Library.
  • Wi-Fi.
  • Information Display Board.

The Central Library fosters intellectual growth and advances the mission of Abhayapuri College and affiliated communities by supporting excellence and innovation in education and research, managing and delivering information. In our daily work,we adhere to the principles of fairness and equality, and we believe that each user of the Library is unique and important. We aspire to provide the best possible patron experience while maintaining a comfortable, welcoming and secure place for study, research, work, reflection and interaction.

LIBRARY COLLECTION STATUS


The Central Library is well stacked with 21,564 collections including Textbooks and Reference Books. The Book Bank Facility is available in the Library with a total collection of 1702 numbers. The purpose of the Bank is to help the financially poor students of the college. In the year 2015, there are 33 Numbers of Journals and Magazines in the central Library.

Special Collection of the Library


The family of Pandit Tirtha Nath Sharma has donated his valuable collection of books to our library. The maximum books are belonging to the Sanskrit literature and English literature. In this collection lot of rare and old book is available which helps advance learners of our Library.

Library Membership


Library membership is given to all students, Teachers, and other staff of the college only.

Library Cards


Library smart cards are issued to the student to borrow library books.

  • Higher secondary students can borrow maximum : Two Books
  • Degree student with major can borrow maximum : Four Books
  • General degree students can borrow maximum : Two Books
  • Post graduate students can borrow maximum : Two Books

The books are issue to the students for 15 days only. After that they can renew those next one week again. Proper uniform is mandatory to enter in the library or in the Reading room.

Book Bank


A book bank sponsored and finance by the UGC has been maintained by the college since 1971. Poor and meritorious student are provided book from the book bank for a complete academic session. The book bank has a very handsome collection. To full fill the demand of the student, the book bank purchase new books as earlier as possible.

Reading room-cum reference section


The library has a spacious and well equipped modern reading room with sitting capacity for 72 students and separate reading corner for Teachers. Newspapers and Periodicals are displayed in the reading room. Journals, magazines, periodicals and reference books are issued for the reading room only. We have very good collection of dictionaries and encyclopedia in our reference section.

Library Services


  • To save the time of the user the library is running with online public Access Catalogue (OPAC).
  • Internet and e-mail facilities also available at the library.
  • We are providing Reprographic service by collecting a minimum amount.
  • Library books issued to the student for fifteen day. But it can be renewed to next one week again. Renewal and Reservation of important books facilities are available.
  • We display our current books and journals list in the library notice board as well as other notice board of our college.
  • The current journals and magazine are display in the reading room itself.
  • We are providing document on career development.
  • We are proving user orientation programme for both teachers and students.
  • We are updating our information display board regularly.
  • The entire library is under close circuit camera surveillance.

Special service


The provision of a North East India reference corner and Pandit Tirtha Nath Sarma reference corner are available in the Library for advance learner. Library has a good collection for career guidance. Library has a very good collection of reference books. E.g. Encyclopedia, dictionary, bound periodicals, record books, atlas, handbook etc.
