WELCOME TO CENTRAL LIBRARY

Abhaypuri College is one of the oldest and premier colleges of lower part of Assam established in the year 1955 and thus the Central Library also was established. At the very beginning the college library ran with small numbers of books. The Well wishers of the college came forward to donate books and journals and for this act the Central library shall ever remain indebted to them. There was no separate room for the Library in the college. It functioned in a borrowed room of Abhayeswari H.S. and MP school which is adjacent to the present college campus. By the continuous process of development, the library at present is located in the first floor of the college RCC Building inaugurated by Late Chandan Sarkar former MLA.

The College has faculties of Arts, Science affiliated to Gauhati University and UGC Sponsored Skill based Schemes of B.Voc and Community College with total enrolment strength of students of more than 2500 students in regular mode and about 100 numbers of teaching and non teaching staff.

At present the Central Library has a well- stacked collection of about 30,345 books, including Text books and Reference books. The Central Library has a good number of Periodicals (Journals and Magazines) of Local, National and International repute and a wide range of regional and national newspapers serving the users in the college. This Library is providing various services to its users and trying to expand the wings of its services.

The Central Library follows open Access System reducing the barriers between the books and readers. The Central Library is automated using SOUL 2.0 (Integrated Library Management Software-ILMS) developed by the INFLIBNET. The users can search the Library Catalogue (OPAC) by Author's name, title, subject, and keywords available on the campus LAN.

Central Library remains open in all working days.

  • **The library remains open during summer and winter breaks.
